The Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society

Welcome Message

김근수
Dear Respected Members of the Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society,
Dear members of the Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society, Since its establishment in 1987, our society has developed into a world-class society in spinal surgery thanks to the activities of many teachers and seniors. The papers published in the regular symposium held in fall, and winter conference, ASIA Spine held annually in each country, show the excellent quality level comparable to any international conference.
The journal of the Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society, which was newly launched as Neurospine in 2017, has been an official journal in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, and in 2018, it was listed on Scopus and was also listed on E-SCI. Neurospine's remarkable development was thanks to several presidents and executive committee members who have worked hard so far. In particular, the chief editor and editors devoted themselves to achieving such results. Now, we will do our best to establish Neurospine as an SCI(E) magazine in the near future. Recently the issues related to senile spinal diseases are rapidly increasing; spinal trauma with osteoporosis and surgical problems; research〮development and clinical application of non-surgical procedures and non-invasive surgical methods for degenerative spinal diseases; the concept of spinal balance in the cervico-thoracic/lumbar spine; medical and surgical treatment of metastatic spinal diseases; furthermore, safe surgery for the very elderly, etc. We need to press on regardless. We will actively participate in international events. In 2019, the former management team successfully held the 10th Asia Spine. The current management team will also make every effort to successfully host the World Spine 9, which will be held in Seoul in 2020. In addition, we will participate as an official society at SpineWeek 2020 in Melbourne, Australia and hold the 2nd NASS-KSNS Joint Endoscopy Symposium with the North American Spine Society (NASS). Recently, the world around us is not good. Due to the government's policy to convert non-benefit items into benefit coverage, not only MRI but also several other non-payment items will be benefit items soon. In this context, we will do our utmost to create an environment where you can stably work on the health of the people, based on the measures such as compensation plan for coverage of non-benefit items, development of a new medical fee code in the spine area, raised relative evaluation, reasonable increase of the medical fee, recognition of appropriate indications, etc. Beloved members of the KSNS, It may be a tough time now, however, there's even a saying, "After a storm comes the calm". We will work hard to become a best and proud model for the juniors in spinal neurosurgery. The unstinting support and encouragement from all of seniors and juniors and colleagues would be appreciated May your family be blessed with good health and happiness!
